Made by the English foundry “Biclam”, c1880. This is an exceptionally detailed fireplace with beautiful lines and patterns. Stamped “The Scotia” on the interior. Vines, leaves, and flowers with a trellis detail as well as a light nod to the Adams style. Includes the vent cover which is an old, aggregate cement material as well as the coal or log grate and an ornate fender. There is also the original, damper cover which attaches at the back and is not visible from the front profile. Most pieces are stamped “No 104, 30″. Has been painted white at some point in a gloss finish. Very nice condition with some evidence of age. There is a repair to the foot as noted in picture. It has been reinforced with a wood block and is sturdy but wasn’t done as to hide the break as pictured. The right side of the mantel top has a break/missing as pictured. This is not evident from the front profile at all and is seriously barely noticeable. Some minor chipping paint. This is a GORGEOUS, original fireplace of great detail and design. Overall measurements are 40″ tall, 35.5″ wide at mantel top. It is 6.5″ deep at mantel top and 8″ deep at bottom. The interior square opening (which has decorative pieces attached) measures 15″ wide and 24″ tall.
