An outstanding English slipper chair from the Victorian period. The ebonised frame has a wonderful shape, and the floral tapestry offers an oriental finish. All sitting on four short legs, the front two reeded, on their original casters. This piece is in very good antique condition with nominal marks and scratches on the frame and some loss to the ebonised finish. This low-slung chair was, traditionally, used in womens bedrooms as seating for when maids helped them put on their shoes, or slippers, as they were often called. It is a great occasional chair for the bedroom and has more recently been brought into the living room due to its comfort. 71 x 52 x 89 cm. 28 x 20.5 x 35 Inches.
