Large Staffordshire Toby Jug featuring a Victorian era English gentleman with a mug of ale made circa 1870. This boldly colored jug measures approximately 11.5 inches (H) x 4.5 inches (D, at the base) x 5.5 inches (Deep, including handle) and is titled “Hearty Good Fellow” inscribed towards the bottom on the front of the jug. Whimsical characters were very popular with early Staffordshire figurines, Toby jugs and other pottery pieces and this is no exception. This charming pitcher is in very fine, previously owned, antique condition with no cracks, chips or repairs. There is some minor enamel loss to the finish, consistent with age, but overall it is a beautiful jug that displays very nicely. The photographs are part of, and provide the best description of the item. Please feel free to ask questions prior to purchasing.
