Up for sale is this rare antique copy of Hans Christian Andersen’s, What the Moon Saw and Other Tales. The book is overall in good condition with some signs of wear and age. There is no printed publishing date on the title page, but the front fep has a penciled inscription which is dated 1878. The covers have some mild wear with some darkening to the spine and a little wear to the extremities. There are a few minor interior cracks to the text block, but the hinges are good and the binding is sound. The frontispiece lacks its protective tissue guard. The interior is lightly toned from age with some scattered light foxing & grubbiness. Along with that, there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as a creased corner, light bit of soiling, small chip or tear, etc. Generally though, it’s a good copy. The book measures approximately 7 1/2 inches by 5 3/4 inches. It is 503 pages long and is illustrated with 6 color plates and several other black and white illustrations. Please look at all of the photos to further note the condition. The item “1878 WHAT THE MOON SAW Victorian Children’s ANDERSEN’S FAIRY TALES Antique Book” is in sale since Sunday, September 26, 2021.
