An Antique English Tunbridge Ware Lap Desk with a dome shaped lid veneered in Burl Walnut with bands of Intricate Inlays running over the top. Inset Mother of Pearl diamond shapes to the front and top. The Desk opens out to reveal a very decorative leather inset writing surface with elaborate gilt tooling to the borders; to the front a pen tray and lidded compartment. Spaces underneath the leather for papers etc. Wonderful color and patination. Mid to late 19th Century. A small area of repair to the veneer on the bottom of one side. Minor crack to the base.
