We are offering for your consideration a very fine, silver plated, unmarked, English, Biscuit Warmer that measures 9.25 inches high and 13 inches when fully opened. Biscuit warmers in Victorian England were placed by the hearth and turned frequently so all sides could be warmed. The biscuits inside were warmed during this process. The biscuit warmer was then placed on the table, opened and the contents served. A lovely floral and leaf repousse design set in panels decorates the front and back of this elegant piece. It has a stand with two bowls that are hinged on the bottom. When closed, the bowls rise up with two round rings. When the biscuit warmer is opened, each biscuit bowl is lowered and each has hinged flaps with a pierced design to help keep the contents warm. The flaps are opened by raising the rings to serve the biscuits. The stand has a handsome twig design with an open handle at the top allowing for ease in carrying and serving. The piece is supported by four, scrolled, twig shaped feet. The biscuit warmer is in. EXCELLENT ESTATE READY TO USE ESTATE CONDITION. With no repairs, dings, flaking or major silver wear to note. The outside of the piece has a mirror like shine. Any dark spots or discoloration are from background glare. A great piece that will be a joy to own and an impressive piece to serve tea cookies or biscuits to your invited guests.
